Awaz, an antakshari competition, was organized by Satrang at Berkeley. The key individuals responsible for this event included Pooja Rathi, Sunita Hingorani, Michelle Haq and others. Satrang is a cultural organization of south Asian students at the University of California-Berkeley. Founded in the summer of 2003, the Satrang troupe has been established for several reasons: to share the joy and beauty of dance and to use dance as a means of counteracting the lack of awareness about South Asia. The group is open to all.
