I guess, this rule is taking all excitement away from cricket. Pakistan lost against India. Still does not hurt all Pakistanis, because, Pakistan still qualify for super 8. But, think about it if any good team will be out only by this rule then what...........I guess, they should still split point if match tied.
What do you think guys......................?

I think this new rule of ball out is unfair, but take it from another perspective.... don't the bowlers train themselves daily for hours to hit the wicket... when they can't hit it when a batsman is not there, what will they will do when a batsman is guarding the stumps.... a bowler can not only wait for batsman's mistake to get a wicket.

Just a thought; you have the right to disagree
Hamid,
I saw the match and was troubled that none of our bowlers could bowl straight enough to hit the stumps.
They should have a lot more control to hit the decks hard. On the contrary, all three Indians hit the stumps easily.
Regardless, I agree it's a dumb rule.I'm glad Pakistan were not knocked out of the tournament.

Assalaam-u-Alaikum Mr. Haq,

First of all congratulation to create this user friendly and interesting site for all NEDians. Excellent Job.

2nd the rule is rule but a rule like that should not be applied for important tournaments like world cup. You are correct that our bowlers should have practice to have good line and length, but, hitting wicket is not only the bowling skill. You have seen that even Robin Uthappa hit the wicket but he is not a bowler. Yes, I am glad too that Pakistan is still in.

Assalaam alaikum everyone,

I am new here. As far as the bowl-out is concerned, I believe the creators of this rule were inspired by the penalty shoot-outs in soccer. However, even in soccer, we have penalty shoot-outs only in the knock-out stages, e.g. Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals.

We dont need a bowl-out in the Group Stage or in the Super 8, simply because we dont need a winner. There are some people who are suggesting that both teams be given one more over to bat. The team with the highest score at the end wins! I agree with this suggestion, provided we only use this approach in knock-out stages.

However, I must say that we lost the match thanks to another hopeless display by our top order. You wouldnt expect any team to lose after the heroics of Asif or Misbah-ul-Haq.
But the most interesting part is that Pakistan didn't knew about this bowl out rule while Indians practiced it in the nets. Although a dumb rule, it shows the lack of professionalism in our ranks.
yes i think it was unfair to decide the whole match on just hitting the wickets...in such a condition i believe an extra over shld be given to each side, and the team which scores the most shld be the winner...such tht it test both the bowling, batting and also the fielding of each side...not just hitting the wickets and deciding the match..it was seeming to be a joke or sumthin....

Pakistan's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Initiative Transforming Lives

Pakistan's journey to build a digital public infrastructure (DPI) began in March 2000 with the establishment of NADRA, the National Database and Registration Authority. The Gates Foundation defines DPI as follows: "DPI is a digital network that enables countries to safely and efficiently deliver economic opportunities and social services to all residents. DPI can be compared to roads, which form a physical network that connects people and provides access to a huge range of goods and…

    Solar Power Boom in Pakistan

Falling solar panel prices and soaring rates for grid electricity are driving a renewable power boom in Pakistan. A second factor spurring the growth in clean energy installations is the requirement of major western apparel brands for garments and textile manufacturers to switch to clean energy. As a result, the solar panel imports in the country jumped from 2,800 MW in 2022 to 5,000 MW in 2023, in…
