New edition published: Former NED professor Dr. Iqbal Ali's book "Irrigation & Hydraulic Structures"

  The 5th  Edition of "Irrigation & Hydraulic Structures" (2015),  by Dr. Iqbal Ali  is out now. The 1st Edition was published in 1993  by  NED University  of  Engg. & Tech. Karachi, where Dr Ali was Professor.
The book fully meets the need of  Civil and Agriculture students and of design and  field engineers.
This 600 page book covers Pakistan's  design  practices in  Irrigation  Systems based on river diversion. This is the world's largest continuous gravity flow water distribution  system consisting of  40,000 miles canals, 3 large dams, 17  barrages on river Indus, Jhelum and  Chenab, and more than 100,000 hydraulic  structures . It also covers Tube-well   irrigation, Sprinkler and Drip systems, Root-zone water mechanics and Land Drainage Systems. The last chapter is on  Computer Applications in Water Resources
The  book is very popular with the students of Engineering and Agriculture Universities of  Pakistan for its  originality, simple approach and easy to understand language. The  TEIJIN  INSTITUTE OF WATER  RESOURCES,DEVELOPMENT AND  INVESTIGATION, PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA, BEIJING,  selected  this book for translation into Chinese and published it in 2006 for their 700 Engineering Universities and  consulting firms.

    Over 1000 Pakistani Medical Grads Matched in US Residency Programs in 2026

    Over 1000 Pakistani medical graduates have been matched in the 2026 NRMP (National Residency Matching Program), according to APPNA (The Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America).  This 2026 program was the largest in history, offering 44,344 positions to 53,373 registered applicants, with over 93% of spots filled.
