The Department of Computer and Information Systems Engineering in this University is unique in Pakistan because this descipline was introduced in 1983 long before the Information Technology drive of the present Government was launched at the beginning of the present millenium. The NED University is now the only Public Sector Engineering University which offers two undergraduate four-year programmes i.e. Computer Engineering from one Engineering Faculty & Computer Science from Science Faculty - initiated in 1998. Both these disciplines - the difference between which is not always appreciated - are of equal importance. The manner in which knowledge derived from both of them has been dovetailed in this Programming Competition & Project Exhibition TechElite is clearest indication of the role of Information Technology in this University.
