Karachi to receive heavy downpour from today: PMD

Heavy downpour accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to hit Karachi as fourth spell of monsoon expected to enter the city today (Thursday), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The weather in Karachi will remain partly cloudy today while the maximum temperature can rise up to 36 degree centigrade and 70pc humidity was recorded in today's morning. 

As per the PMD, "Under the influence of this weather system, strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate Sindh, south Punjab and eastern Balochistan from Thursday (evening/night) to Saturday." 

Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas during this period may receive widespread rain and thundershowers.

In its weather report, the met office has also warned against urban flooding as heavy showers hit Karachi and Hyderabad.

All concerned authorities have been advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures in their areas.

Temperature of some major cities recorded this morning: Islamabad 25 degree centigrade, Lahore 28, Karachi 31, Peshawar 29, Quetta 23, Gilgit 21,  Murree and Muzaffarabad 19 degree centigrade.

Residents of Karachi already experienced heavy and light rain which reduced the intensity of heat but it caused more difficulties to survive.

The people of the city also witnessed prolonged power outages after heavy and light rains lashed earlier.

Many roads, streets and homes flooded with rainwater. It is to be noted that, multiple lives lost due to electrocution during past rainy days.
