"One hard truth that Indians have to contend with is that America has also had difficulty treating India with respect", writes former Singaporean diplomat Kishore Mahbubani in his latest book "Has China Won?". "If America wants to develop a close long-term relationship with India over the long run, it needs to confront the deep roots of its relative lack of respect for India", adds Ambassador Mahbubani. It's not just Mahbubani who suspects the United States leadership does not respect India. Others, including former President Bill Clinton, current US President Donald Trump, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and CNN GPS host Fareed Zakaria have expressed similar sentiments.

Racist US commentator Laura Loomer, known for anti-India and anti-Hindu posts, invited as a speaker at India Today Conclave 2026

Controversial American far-right commentator Laura Loomer has reportedly been invited to speak at the India Today Conclave 2026, triggering sharp criticism on social media due to her long record of racist remarks targeting Indians and Indian-origin individuals.
Taking to X, Loomer stated that she is headed to India to speak at the India Today Conclave 2026.
In one of the widely shared posts, she questioned why people in India “still [defecate] in the water they bathe and drink from,” while another post mocked Indian immigrants as so-called “high-skilled” workers who supposedly come from a country without basic facilities.
Other screenshots highlighted Loomer claiming that “our country was built by white Europeans, not third-world invaders from India,” along with remarks ridiculing India’s average, legitimising that Indians drink from the same water they bathe in. Social media users said these posts demonstrate a pattern of openly racist rhetoric against Indians.

‘Colonial mindset’? Norway newspaper’s ‘snake charmer’ racist cartoon of Modi triggers backlash - World News | The Financial Express
https://www.financialexpress.com/world-news/colonial-mindset-norway...
As debates around press freedom and human rights continue during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’sNorway visit, a cartoon published by the country’s leading newspaper portraying the PM as a snake charmer has gone viral.
The cartoon appeared in Norwegian daily Aftenposten alongside an opinion piece whose headline translates to “A clever and slightly annoying man”. It showed PM Narendra Modi as a snake charmer, with a fuel-station pipe depicted as the snake.
The “snake charmer” imagery has long been criticised as a colonial and xenophobic stereotype used by sections of Western media to portray India and Indians. The cartoon surfaced on social media shortly after PM Modi arrived in Oslo and received sharp reactions online.

takes cognisance of this.
Colonial arrogance dies hard.
The West mocked India when it was poor.
Now they mock India because it is powerful.
