216 more coronavirus cases emerge in Punjab, pushing provincial tally to 3,232

Punjab on Thursday has reported 216 additional coronavirus cases bringing the provincial tally to 3,232.

According to Punjab's Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 216 new cases surfaced in Punjab after which the number of provincial infections rose to 3,232. 

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 has mounted to 6,521 with 124 fatalities in the country so far while the death toll in Punjab has rose to 34.

A day earlier, Punjab government had extended lockdown in the province till 25th of April while deciding to immediately re-open the low-risk sectors by ensuring implementation of SOPs to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Wednesday had announced to raise the testing capacity of COVID-19 in the province by 10,000.

In a statement, the CM Buzdar informed that soon Punjab will be able to conduct 10,000 coronavirus tests on daily basis.

More than 43,000 tests have so far been conducted in the province, he added.

CM also said that "the measures taken by the government to control deadly virus are giving fruitful outcomes." 

Sardar Usman Buzdar further told that strategy is being formulated to provide relief to the general masses in Ramazan.
