Social Development work for Sindh

It was great idea to form this forum and also to mobilize all NEDians.It is also great that we have an endowment fund to help NED and also Nedians in need. But we should see that there is more need in providing the basic need to our People from Sindh. We could reach and study in NED because of the philanthropist act of NaderShaw Edeljee Dinshaw family. We had the basic needs met alhamdulillah by our parents. Now we should look ahead and see that our poor people get the basic needs met so that they could also have equal apportunities in our society.
We have formed a group of Senior NEdians gradute from any year until 1975. We are establishing an organization for welfare work with base at Karachi by name NEDians Social Engineer Trust (NEDians-SET). We invite all to advertize and join in our efforts and in our groupThe details of project are in attached Synopsis.

It's a good idea to help projects for the poor in Sind. What specific projects are you thinking about? Does it make sense to join forces with other groups such as Human Development Foundation or Hidaya Foundation ) ? Both of these groups are quite active in the US and collect large amount of funds for opening schools, hospitals etc. and providing disaster relief. It's usually easier to make tangible contribution more quickly that starting from the scratch.

Dear Riaz Sb.,
We are setting up a trust by the name NEDians Social Engineer (NED ian-SET) at Karachi. Once this is done we shall first request Nedians to contribute. Once the activities start we can ask these foundations to donate to our trust. We shall have to get this trust registered in USA for legalizing the donation and the tax exemption for the contributors.
The project is to bring pregnant women to a Hospital in tando alayar (Rashidabad) for caesarian operation. This facility is not available in Thar. The hospital facilities at Rashidabad shall be provided to our trust free of cost by a NGO Rashid Memeorial Welfare trust.
We shall need the publicity of this project as much as possible.

I know that Sindh needs help and more focus for it's development, and so this is great stuff.

In fact, i am from Pindi, so maybe any pindu's here like myself, can also do something. It is a dream to help people in Pakistan, and it simply makes sense to start from where most efficient and accessable for us.

Dear Riaz Saheb Salamalaikum!
I have great pleasure to inform you that now we are a registered trust and have a bank account.You imagine it took us one and half year to get this because we would not bribe the registrar.
The synopsis that I sent you last year still holds good. We are doing it in phases. Our attached action plan is phase 1. We shall have a staff and ambulance to conduct camps for pregnant women, and shall bring the ones needing Cessarian operation to Rashidabad (Tando Allayar). The hospital was built and equipped by Rashid Memorial Welfare Organization (RMWO). They have already arranged another NGO whose business is health care. They shall provide surgical facilities to our patients free of charge. We shall thus have a humble start. The rest of information you may find in the attachments. Please note that i write my name as Badar Khan only just that you do not get confused. Please pass these attahcments to all prospective friends of NED-SET, and potential donors. Appeal for Donation for NED-SET‘s Social Programs in Pakistan

 

Dear Friends,

NED-SET is a first ever social philanthropist trust by the name Social Engineers Trust (simply NED-SET) by NEDians Alumni. For the last two years, besides other health related  activities, NED Set has established Two Schools where there was no school ever before in Tando Allahyar.

Around 200 children are attending the schools regularly and we plan to expand and build 3 new schools.

In this auspicious month of Ramazan we would encourage you to make your Donations / Zakat to NED Set who’s objectives and activities are given as follows (also see attached docs)

NED-SET Objectives are:

  • Support basic health care, disease prevention and nutrition to mother & child.
  • Medical and surgical treatment to people in rural areas where such facilities are nonexistent.
  • Basic education, technical training, and skill development.
  • Projects for water management especially in arid zones.
  • Alternate energy for masses in rural areas.
  • Clean drinking water, sewerage system and shelter.

Your post should get the attention of many members and non-members who visit this website.

You may want to also contact organizations like Hidaya Foundation, Human Development Foundation (HDF) and the Citizens Foundation (TCF) which are registered in the US and support efforts like yours.

It's hard for organization not registered as charities in the US to raise money here because of legal issues.
